USCIS announced that Effective today (9/26/22), the validity of Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards) will automatically be extended to 24 months (from existing 12 months) for lawful permanent residents who properly file the Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. USCIS further announced that it has started printing amended receipt notices for pending Form I-90s. USCIS has amended the relevant language on Form I-90 receipt notices to reflect the change to automatic validity of 24 months. This change is being affected due to longer processing times affecting the applicants of Form I-90s. Those with pending Form I-90s can use the fee receipt notices as evidence of their continued status as Green Card holders while awaiting final adjudications of their pending applications.
