It is mind boggling to note how backlogged USCIS is with processing of applications for immigration benefits. USCIS Director MS. Ur M. Jaddou presented a Fiscal Year 2022 Report to Congress informing that USCIS has approximately 4.4 million applications pending as of end of September 2021 that have further increased as each day passed by. Congress has allocated $250 million to clear the backlog and the report was submitted with an outline expenditure plan for the allocated amount. USCIS also included a spending plan of $345 million requested in the FY 2022 President's Budget. This is expected to result in USCIS fee increase. USCIS has not had a fee increase since FY 2016. USCIS informs that new investments in technology will improve processing of workflows and redistribution of workload efficiently.
