In the areas of Immigration Law, Mr. Bhagwati has an expertise in business litigation, corporate immigration, including nonimmigrant visas, employment visas, visas for doctors, nurses, applicable healthcare professionals, fiancé visas, F-1 visas, M-1 visas, permanent residence petitions, labor certifications process under PERM, marriage-based adjustments and green cards, national interest waivers, Naturalization, I-9, LCA compliance and, DOL Audits. He has served for over a decade in a Senior Management position heading Global Legal Department of a successful Multi-national Information Technology Company. Mr. Bhagwati is of the firm view that in order to successfully solve any Corporation Immigration problem, it is fundamentally important to be part of actual business environment. Mr. Bhagwati has spent over ten years being part of large Company handling multi faceted immigration and other legal matters making him a very successful lawyer. His experience as a Global Corporate Legal head for over a decade gives him an added advantage in understanding business complexities that Corporate houses in America grapple with in their day-to-day activities with respect to Immigration Law and thus arms him adequately to successfully handle any complex Immigration matter and business law related matters.
In the areas of Employment Law, Mr. Bhagwati has handled all types of claims & employment issues in addition to preparing contracts and policies. These include restrictive covenants, non-compete, executive compensation, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation and racial discrimination, as well as compliance with federal, state and local fair employment and labor law. He also represents clients in a wide range of business litigation matters.
Having completed his (LL.M.) from New York University School of Law in New York, USA, Mr. Bhagwati has been admitted to practice as an attorney in the state of New York. Mr. Bhagwati is also admitted to practice law as an attorney in India. Before starting The Law Offices of Vijay Bhagwati, PLLC, he served in several Senior Executive Management positions in large Multinational Corporate houses, both in USA and India. For over a decade, he served as Corporate Legal Advisor to a large International Information Technology Servicing Company and continues to advise the corporation on Immigration and business legal matters in USA and abroad.
Before completing his LL.M course from NYU School of Law, Mr. Bhagwati earned his LL.B; a Bachelor of Laws Degree with high distinction ranking first in University scoring the highest GPA. Mr. Bhagwati also completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Science followed by a Master’s Degree in English literature.
Attorney Bhagwati is a member of several legal and professional organizations. He is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), American Bar Association, Ney York County Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association and New Delhi Bar Council of India.
